Overall, this book was cliched and repetitive, with no new themes or ideas. During her summer vacation, Colie gets a new job, makes some new friends, falls in love, and most importantly, learns what it means to let the names that other people give you fall away. Keeping the Moon is the story of Colie, a girl with several self-esteem issues who travels to her estranged Aunt Mira's for the summer while her fitness fanatic mother does a workout tour across Europe. Let me start this review by stating that I will be reading Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen at a different time, and this is only a review of Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen. Also if you like any Sarah Dessen books you would love this one! Also if your best friend got a boyfriend and suddenly ignores you for him. It is very easy to relate to if you have ever had a bug fight with your best friend.

I would mainly recommend this book for teenage girls though. Life gets crazy for them with Scarlett’s boyfriend dying and then finding out she is pregnant, and Halley having her first serious boyfriend. But they were perfect best friends that met when they were very little when Scarlett moved into the house next to Halley’s. Halley was always the one that was not as popular and more in the background. Scarlett has always been the friend that was popular and outgoing and had the great popular boyfriend. It is about two high school girls that have always been best friends. Scarlett finds out that she is pregnant! The worst part about finding that out is that the father is her boyfriend that just died! Just remember that true best friends forever will truly be best friends forever no matter what happens. You would think it would make your friendship stronger, but it will also probably cause some major road bumps. Of course your friendship with your long time best friend is going to change when her boyfriend gets killed in a motorcycle accident while you are away at camp. The book that I read was titled Some Like You by Sarah Dessen. It will sums up the book because in the book it makes you realize how lost you would be without your best friend. “Life is an awful, ugly place to not have a best friend.” That is my favorite quote from this book because it is so true.
